For me, I will rather install Deep Freeze in my computer rather than having three or four security softwares. Why? Hmm wait, you haven’t heard of Deep Freeze? Let’s define it first.

What is Deep Freeze?

Deep Freeze instantly protects and preserves baseline computer configurations. No matter what changes a user makes to a workstation, simply RESTART to eradicate all changes and reset the computer to its ORIGINAL state – right down to the last byte. Expensive computer assets are kept running at 100% capacity and technical support time is reduced or eliminated completely. The result is consistent trouble-free computing on a truly protected and parallel network, completely free of harmful viruses and unwanted programs.

Just imagine having a computer shop and that is being used by hundreds of your customers for almost everyday, do you think that your computers will be safe from viruses and spy wares? I don’t think so. I believe most of you will still rely to your good old and ever trusted security program to do the trick.

Ooops!, don’t get me wrong. Having anti-virus/anti-spy wares are essential BUT what I don’t like with these softwares are:

  1. The time consumed. For your computer to be a virus free, you have to run the software occasionally or in every virus definition update. How long does it usually takes to scan the entire computer?
  2. It eat a lot of resources. Norton and Mcafee are some of the culprits why you’re computer is acting slow most of the time. At start-up, it uses nearly 10-20% of your system’s computing power.
  3. Needs a virus definition, every time. What if you don’t have an internet connection and you have been infected with a newer breed of virus?
  4. Are all viruses and spy wares being cleaned by your security software? I always encounter viruses that can’t be quarantined nor deleted.

Those were some of the factors why I decided to abandon the use of anti-virus and anti-spy ware. With deep freeze, you don’t have to worry at all. No more scanning, no more virus definition update, it doesn’t eat too much resources and most importantly it saves you a LOT of time. A simple RESTART brings back your computer to a 100% working condition. Thank God we’re using it in our internet cafe. I don’t have to sacrifice my time to troubleshoot.
