I have come across this issue for quite sometime now and finally I was able to fix the missed schedule problem of wordpress 2.7.
As I have stated previously, this blog now is hosted under (mt) media temple. And on that same time was the first public release of wordpress 2.7. So I went on and decided to have a fresh new installation of wordpress on my hosting. Everything seems to be ok until I bump to this issue that has been bugging me for several days.
It’s Vista’s Birthday! Belated Happy Birthday Microsoft Vista.
It was January 30, 2007 last year when Microsoft Vista was made available to the public and even though it brought some criticism prior to it’s initial release, it still sold 100 million plus copies to date. Though I’m still not using Vista and not planning to use one, I will still give them a big thumbs up for overcoming a troubled year and I hope that they will do some major updates to make it a lot better to end-user.
Also another cool news from Microsoft. Just got an email from the Windows Live Team that their services are now readily available including Windows Live Writer. The writer will compliment most bloggers because it provides a better way to design a post thus making the blog much livelier. It is available free for download and can be easily use to integrate to common publishing software like WordPress. Other services include an event organizer, photo gallery and Live search. To know more about Windows Live, go here.
As soon as I have my DSL connection back (it has been down for 2 weeks already because of a stolen cable in our area), I’ll try the Windows Live Writer and will post my experience using it through WordPress.
This s a very good hack on your RSS if you want to exclude your PPP/Smorty/Payu2blog categories showing in your feeds. I have tried a couple of plugins before and none of them work and what makes this hack a good one is, you don’t have to modify any of your wordpress files. This can be done in less than 5 minutes.
Exclude a Category in your Feed:
- Determine first the category that you don’t want to appear in your RSS. Check it under Manage Tabs > Category and look for the ID number.
- Once done. Login to your feedburner account and edit your feed settings under Original Feed (I bet this is also true to other feed manager subscriptions like feedblitz). Your typical feed URL looks like this http://yuwoncedric.com/?feed=rss2
- Replace the Feed URL with this one: http://yuwoncedric.com/index.php?feed=rss2&cat=-x where x is the category that you want to exclude. Just change yuwoncedric.com to your website. That’s it! You’re done.
- If you want to exclude multiple categories then you just need to add ‘,-x‘ after the feed URL. Like this one http://yuwoncedric.com/index.php?feed=rss2&cat=-x,-x
