You probably encountered this already. This error showed up on my PC after installing Need for Speed Undercover. This will be my next game since I’m done cheating GTA Chinatown Wars hehe. Basically I don’t know what happened on my installation, I just uninstalled the application and re-run it again but unfortunately it always give me this freakin error. Some suggestions said that I might have a corrupt registry and a registry cleaner can do it for me. Boo!

What does d3dx9_34.dll mean?

D3dx9_34.dll errors typically appear when a software program, usually a game, is started. Occasionally, d3dx9_34.dll errors will display after a game is loaded but right before the game starts. In non-game applications, a d3dx9_34.dll error might appear before the program starts or before certain advanced graphics features of the program are used.

Some of the more common d3dx9_34.dll error messages are listed below:

• "D3DX9_34.DLL Not Found"
• "File d3dx9_34.dll not found"
• "The file d3dx9_34.dll is missing"
• "D3DX9_34.DLL is missing. Replace D3DX9_34.DLL and try again."
• "D3dx9_34.dll not found. Reinstalling might help fix this."
• "This application has failed to start because d3dx9_34.dll could not be found!"

So there you go, this error would normally show up if you will be running a game and this might have a relationship with a problematic Microsoft Directx 9 drivers. The fix? Just download d3dx9_34.dll from DLL-files.com and put it on the exact folder where your application was installed. In my case I put it in C:\Program Files\EA Games\Need for Speed Undercover. I am using wp-supercache on my blogs but it seems that it is not enough. Media Temple has a suggested optimization guide according to David which I followed thoroughly, but at the end of the day all I have are still the same yellow, black and red icon faults. haaaayyy buhhhhaayy

After a few weeks of struggling on how to make the server up without memory failures and without rebooting the VPS of course.  I finally get it done through the help of APC.

What is APC?

APC (Alternative PHP Cache) is a free and open opcode cache for PHP. It was conceived of to provide a free, open, and robust framework for caching and optimizing PHP intermediate code.

How to install APC on Media Temple’s DV Base?

1. Make sure you have root access and developer tools installed. Go to Media Temple’s Admin page of your account and click on “Root Access and Developer Tools”.

2. SSH to your serer via Putty. Get it here.

3. Type these commands one at a time.

• cd /usr/local/src
• wget http://pecl.php.net/get/APC-3.0.19.tgz
• gunzip -c APC-3.0.19.tgz | tar xf -
• cd APC-3.0.19
• /usr/bin/phpize
• ./configure –enable-apc –enable-apc-mmap –with-apxs2=/usr/sbin/apxs –with-php-config=/usr/bin/php-config
• make
• make install

4. Edit Php.ini

• vi +/extension_dir /etc/php.ini
• press i
• press enter to start a new line
• type extension = “apc.so”
• press esc and then type :wq to exit and save (if you mess up type :q! to quit without saving)
• service httpd stop
• service httpd start

Now just check the phpinfo.php if APC is running. I was able to reduce the server load dramatically by using this application. APC is highly recommended for VPS users.

Although none of these products claim to be spyware, they do slow your computer down. All of the products use cookies to track usage, although they claim not to use cookies or anything else to track personally identifiable information. That being said, I would still recommend uninstalling the toolbar and other Fun Web Products. They are found by most spyware removal tools such as Spybot Search and Destroy & Lavasoft Ad-Aware other says that it is spyware free.

To Remove or Uninstall:

Go to Add/Remove programs, Look for MyWebSearch on the list and hit remove. Restart PC.
